Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your data. We believe in transparency — here is everything you need to know.

Last updated:

1. Introduction

SnapTray (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the snaptray.io website and platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our QR code menu and ordering platform, whether as a restaurant owner (“Restaurant Partner”) or a diner (“Guest”).

By using SnapTray, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our platform.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Restaurant Partner Information

When you register as a Restaurant Partner, we collect your name, email address, phone/WhatsApp number, restaurant name, restaurant address/area, and number of tables. We also store your menu data (item names, descriptions, prices, categories, and food photos) and your login credentials (email and password, stored in encrypted form).

2.2 Guest Information

When a Guest scans a QR code and uses SnapTray to browse a menu or place an order, we collect minimal data. We do not require Guests to create an account or provide personal information. We collect device-level data such as browser type, device type, and session identifiers to enable the shared cart functionality. We do not collect Guest names, email addresses, phone numbers, or payment information unless voluntarily provided.

2.3 Order Data

We collect information about orders placed through SnapTray, including items ordered, quantities, special requests, table number, and order timestamps. This data is associated with the Restaurant Partner's account and is used to provide the ordering service, kitchen display, and analytics features.

2.4 Usage and Analytics Data

We collect aggregated, anonymized usage data including menu item views, cart additions and removals, peak ordering times, and session durations. This data powers our analytics dashboard for Restaurant Partners and is used to improve the SnapTray platform.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide and maintain the SnapTray platform, including QR menu display, shared cart ordering, kitchen display, and analytics dashboard. We use Restaurant Partner contact information to communicate about account setup, onboarding, support, product updates, and billing. We use order data to display orders on the kitchen display and to generate analytics for Restaurant Partners. We use aggregated usage data to improve our platform features and user experience.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not sell Guest browsing data or order data to advertisers. We may share information with third-party service providers who assist us in operating the platform (such as cloud hosting providers), but only to the extent necessary for them to perform their services. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our legal rights.

5. Data Retention

We retain Restaurant Partner account data for as long as the account is active. If a Restaurant Partner requests account deletion, we will export all their data and delete it from our servers within 30 days. Guest session data (browser sessions, shared cart data) is temporary and is not stored beyond the active session. Order data is retained as part of the Restaurant Partner's analytics history and is deleted when the Restaurant Partner's account is deleted.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information. This includes encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted password storage, access controls on our systems, and regular security reviews. For more details, see our Security page.

7. Cookies and Tracking

SnapTray uses essential cookies and session storage to enable core functionality such as shared cart synchronization and session management. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising purposes. On our marketing website (snaptray.io), we may use analytics tools to understand page visits and user behavior in aggregate.

8. Third-Party Advertising

The free plan of SnapTray may display advertisements on the Guest-facing menu. These ads are served by third-party ad networks (such as Google AdSense) which may use cookies to serve relevant ads. Restaurant Partners on Professional or Premium plans have ad-free menus. Guests can learn more about ad personalization and opt-out options through the respective ad network's privacy settings.

9. Your Rights

Restaurant Partners can access, update, or delete their account data at any time through the admin dashboard or by contacting us at hello@snaptray.io. You can request a full export of your data. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data. Guests do not have accounts, but can contact us to inquire about any data associated with their device sessions.

10. Children's Privacy

SnapTray is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify Restaurant Partners of significant changes via email or through the admin dashboard. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
